The terms of using Orthodox Referrals.
Last updated October 9, 2026. A draft written in plain English; it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
1. What this is
Orthodox Referrals is a professional directory and referral tool for Orthodox Christians. It helps people looking for work find members who will vouch for them, and helps people hiring find candidates someone has vouched for. It is not a church, an employer, a recruiting agency, a dating service or a political organisation, and it does not speak for any church or jurisdiction.
2. Who may use it
- You must be at least 18.
- A profile is for a real person, under their own name, one profile each.
- Every profile names the parish its member attends. Membership in the Orthodox Church is self-attested; the site does not verify it.
3. What you are responsible for
- What you write on your profile, your listings and your referrals is true, and yours to put there.
- You keep your sign-in email safe. Anyone who can open your email can sign in as you.
- You do not post anything unlawful, misleading, harassing, or that collects people’s information for another purpose.
- You do not copy the directory, scrape it, or contact members in bulk.
4. Vouches and referrals
A vouch is the personal word of the member who gives it, not a statement by Orthodox Referrals. The site records that a named person vouched for someone on a listing on a date; it does not check the vouch, guarantee it, or guarantee that a referral leads to an interview or a job.
5. Listings and employers
A listing names the person who posted it. Anyone who posts an opening is responsible for following the employment laws that apply to them, including the laws on discrimination in hiring. Orthodox Referrals does not review listings before they appear, does not make hiring decisions, and is not a party to any job offer.
6. Résumé help and mentoring
Where these are offered, they are general guidance from volunteers, not professional, legal or career advice. These sections are not yet open to the public.
7. Removing content and accounts
You may delete your account at any time with Delete my account on your own page, or by writing to support@orthodoxreferrals.com. We may remove a profile, listing or referral that breaks these terms, and may close an account that does so repeatedly.
8. No warranty
The site is provided as it is, while it is being built, without any promise that it is free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, Orthodox Referrals is not liable for any loss arising from using it, from a referral, or from any job or hiring decision.
9. Changes
These terms may change as the site grows. The date at the top says when they last did; a significant change is announced on the site before it applies.
